There is a lot of power in the questions we ask… Ask the right question and you can literally shape the future. Good teachers know this, they ask lots of good questions in order to shape the thinking of their students. I asked our staff a great question yesterday at staff meeting, it went like this, “What if you had been hired to be a part of a church planting team instead of a church staff team – how would you be spending your time?”. That one question began to bring clarity to the purpose of a staff who all of the sudden has very different responsibilities than they did 2 months ago…
Let me ask you the same question, “what if you were a part of a church plant team instead of just going to a church? What do you think you would do differently?”
How would you view your profession – as though you were a missionary perhaps?
Would you all of the sudden move into more of a leadership role? How would you invest in relationships? How would you use that time to teach your kids about God? How would you care for the poor? How would your daily time of celebrating God personally need to change? How would the way you spend money change?
See, I believe that if we start to ask and answer the right questions, we will start to find some distinct clarity in this period of time that for some of you may feel a little uncertain… And clarity is comforting! Clarity brings purpose an direction!
The answers I’m finding are getting me pumped! I hope you are finding your clarity!
